12 Days of Christmas in Downtown Wentzville

Wheel Sports: Two Super Bikers

On the second day of Christmas, Downtown Wentzville has for me: two super bikers.

Wheel Sports Bicycle Shop, located at 402 S. Church Street, has everything a bicycling enthusiast or skateboarder could wish for, but the shop's best assets are its owner Steve Padilla, a former BMX pro and mountain bike racer who also designed and tested bike products for many years, and his son Nathan, 9, who has inherited his father's love for BMX racing. Their enthusiasm for the sport is apparent the minute you walk through the door. Padilla hopes someday to build a bike track behind the shop and hold a racing series right in downtown Wentzville. Wheel Sports offers full-service tune up and repair as well as custom bike fitting of many different styles of bikes for all agess and skill levels, and they offer lifetime free tuneups with a…

12 Days of Christmas in Downtown Wentzville

Budget Towing: A Tow Truck on Christmas Eve

On the first day of Christmas, Downtown Wentzville has for me: a tow truck on Christmas Eve.

It was a merry Christmas Eve at the mall. The stores are closing but you've finally found that last perfect present, so you head for the parking lot only to find that a foot and a half of snow has fallen. You load up the packages and head out on treacherous icy roads—only to end up in a ditch a few blocks later. Now what? It's Christmas Eve! Not to worry. Budget Towing is on call 24/7, including holidays. And they work with AAA, Quest, Road America and some State Farm agencies, so there's a good chance you'll be covered. Rodney Sherman opened Budget Towing 19 years ago after a career in the military reserves. The Budget Towing headquarters on Luetkenhaus Boulevard in Wentzville is home to 19 tow trucks and service vans. There's even a tow …

We found some services that you'll find invaluable during the holiday season and into the new year. So come on in off the Parkway and explore Wentzville's downtown business district. Napa Auto Parts Latest in Rash of Downtown Burglaries; Reward Offered

The Downtown Business Association is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

The Wentzville Napa Auto Parts store is the latest downtown business to be hit in a series of burglaries that seem to be targeting the area. The Wentzville Police Department issued a press release Oct. 29 that said that the Napa store was burglarized at 5 a.m. and is the fourth downtown business to be hit since October 1. The burglaries at the other three businesses—Wheel Sports Bike Shop, Ehll’s Western Auto, and Chic Lumber—had similar methods of entry, with the intended objective believed to be cash in each incident. Major Paul West of the Wentzville Police Department confirmed to Patch that small amounts of cash were taken in each burglary, and nothing more. The Wentzville Downtown Business Association has offered a $500 reward for …
