Wentzville Swears in New Mayor, Aldermen

The Community says goodbye to their mayor of eight years, Paul Lambi.

Wednesday night's regular meeting of the board of aldermen convened with a standing-room only crowd that spilled into the city hall foyer. The public comment portion of the meeting brought well-wishers to the podium, thanking Mayor Lambi for his service and devotion to the community. O'Fallon Mayor Bill Hennessy and St. Peters Board President Tommy Roberts both presented Lambi with resolutions from their cities honoring his work. Community leaders like Donna-Marie Pierre of the downtown business association and Mike Dinello of the Chamber of Commerce praised Lambi's work for their organizations. Guccione Wins in Wentzville

Gossett, Shryock narrowly win aldermen seats; Stokes easily wins re-election to board. Pritchett to request recount in Ward 2.

Nick Guccione said he had tears in his eyes when fellow Alderman Leon Tow called him to congratulate him on winning the four-way Wentzville mayor race. Guccione won Tuesday's mayoral race by about 8.5 percent over Tow, the second place finisher. Darrel Lackey finished third, followed by Bill Schuette. Guccione said he believes his win is because his message focusing on jobs resonated with Wentzville residents. “People are hurting,” Guccione said at his Wentzville home, where friends gathered to celebrate with him. “For five years as alderman, I’ve reached out to people, helped them with their problems. When they see that you care, it resonates with people.” He said he plans to be open to residents, having frequent meetings in neighborhoods…

Guccione Wins Wentzville's Mayoral Race

Nick Guccione defeated Leon Tow by less than 250 votes in Tuesday's election.

Nick Guccione will be the next mayor of Wentzville. Shortly after receiving a concession from mayoral candidate Leon Tow, final results from the St. Charles County Election Authority showed that Guccione had won by 248 votes. The voting went as follows: "He ran a very effective race," Tow told campaign workers at a gathering at Wentzville's UnKorked Wine Bar. Tow said the really good news is that Rick Stokes (Ward 2), Forrest Gossett (Ward 1) and Sonya Shryock (Ward 3) all won their races. Shryock reportedly won her race by six votes over Jeremy Pritchett in Ward 3. Gossett said he had heard he won by 15 votes over Jay Webber for Ward 1. "I'm deeply gratified. Four Candidates Vye for Wentzville Mayor

Hays withdraws from the Ward 3 race in the April 3 election.

Another candidate has thrown his hat into the ring for Wentzville’s mayoral race. Darrel Lackey filed before the deadline Tuesday to become the fourth candidate in the April 3 election. He will run against former alderman Bill Schuette, Ward 3 Alderman Nick Guccione and Ward 1 Alderman Leon Tow, who also is board president. For the first time, the mayor will serve a four-year term. Previously, the position was a two-year term. Michael Hays also withdrew from the Ward 3 alderman race. His withdrawal puts incumbent Rick Stokes at the top position on the ballot.
