Holt Baseball Turns in Record-Setting Season

Despite an early district death, the Indians put 2011 into the book after big inning in April.

After any season-ending loss, it may seem like standard coach-speak to quip “remember the good games.” But for the Holt Indians’ 2011 season, the state of Missouri will do just that. Humiliated by a 12-run beat down by Fort Zumwalt East in mid-March, Holt just wanted a piece of its pride back when the two squads got together for a rematch in April. Instead, the Indians served up a dish of revenge that will find its way into the Missouri State record book. Highlighted by a 15-run second inning, the Indians put together a stats-packed game that ranked in several team single-game records, as well as setting a new mark with 14 hits in one inning. Wentzville Teacher Heading to Japan

In teacher exchange.

Boone Trail Elementary teacher Jennifer Riley has been selected as one of only 48 teachers and administrators across the country to participate in a Japan-U.S. Teacher Exchange Program. “I am thrilled about this opportunity,” said Riley after learning that she had been accepted. “I am truly honored to represent the Wentzville School District in this program.”  In May, Riley will attend a Joint Conference in San Francisco with visiting Japanese educators. She will then travel to Japan in late June, where she will receive orientation training on Japanese culture and education, attend various workshops and visit schools. In addition, Riley will have an opportunity to tour cultural sites, stay with a Japanese family and participate in a Joint …

Wentzville School District Awarded “Distinction in Performance”

Fifth year in a row for this honor.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has announced that the Wentzville R-IV School District has once again earned the “Distinction in Performance” designation, according to a new release from the district. The District met 14 out of 14 standards related to academic achievement in the 2009-10 school year, and will receive its fifth consecutive “Distinction in Performance” award from the state of Missouri.   The evaluation categories include Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) scores, ACT scores, and the number of students taking advanced courses, college placement, graduation rate, and attendance.  “We are honored that our school district has received this award again.
