Green Tree Art Club Completes Bottlecap Masterpiece

The students replicated Van Gogh with bottlecaps.

Members of the Green Tree Elementary School Art Club have completed a masterpiece made of hundreds of bottlecaps. Their project, a 7 foot by 8 foot mural of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night, was constructed with bottle caps of every shape and size - from toothpaste caps to laundry detergent caps.   The entire school assisted with collection of the bottle caps over the fall semester and the fourth and fifth grade girls worked before school and during their free time with advisor and Art Teacher Pam Winter to complete the mural. Winter said she enjoys reviewing other art teachers’ blogs and was inspired to try the project with her Art Club after seeing a similar mural online. "The girls worked so hard to complete this," said Winter. "They are…

Open Houses Offer Information About School Boundary Changes

The Wentzville R-IVSchool District plans two more open houses.

When voters approved the Wentzville School District's tax levy in April, they acknowledged the district's need for more classroom space in the state's fastest-growing school district. Along with additional facilities at the existing schools, plans were made for a new high school. The new high school created the need to establish attendance boundaries, and the district took that opportunity to realign the boundaries of the middle schools also. The proposed plan calls for three elementary schools to feed into a single middle school, which then feeds into a single high school. Robin Brown, a local resident and parent of a child who will go to the new school, came out to check out the plans.
