Thursday's storm dumped four to six inches of snow and sleet on the city. Add your photos here!
We knew Wednesday night that Thursday would be a snow day in the City of Wentzville. But we didn't count on weather that would shut down stores and offices and stretch our emergency services to their limits. Did you build a snowman? Make snow angels? Shovel your neighbor's sidewalk? Post your snow pictures here.

With road conditions rapidly deteriorating as snow and sleet continue to fall, officials from the City of Wentzville closed city offices at 11 a.m. today. The city is also asking residents to move their cars off city streets to allow road crews easier access. “We made this decision for the safety of City employees and residents,” said Wentzville Mayor Nick Guccione. “We have City snowplow crews working on City streets, but for their own safety we suggest everyone stay off the roads if at all possible and allow our snowplow crews to work on keeping up with this storm as it progresses,” said Guccione. Wentzville Chief of Police Lisa Harrison suggests that residents also check on their elderly neighbors. “It’s a good idea to call and check on…

Lake Saint Louis plans round-the-clock operations starting at 6 a.m. Thursday.
Wentzville Wentzville Public Works Director Doug Lee told Patch that city road crews would begin pre-treating at 7 a.m. Thursday. First priority will be hills and bridges. With the storm not expected until 10 a.m. or 11 am., Lee said, plans were to go to 12-hour shifts at 11 a.m. A lot would depend on just how the storm developed. "At the moment, we're right on the line of the mix," Lee said. When asked how well the city was stocked with salt, Lee replied, "The bins are full of salt." Lake Saint Louis Derek Koestel, Public Works Director for the City of Lake Saint Louis told Patch that he had a small crew out Wednesday night to pre-treat the streets with liquid beet juice brine on major routes and salt on some of the lesser traveled roads…
Some areas saw as much as 6 inches of snow, sleet and frozen precipitation.
A Thursday forecast of snow, sleet and other freezing precipitation that largely followed through as predicted will see Missouri Department of Transportation and other municipal street crews working into Friday to get ready for the morning commute. That, along with a National Weather Service forecast that called for additional nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch, has led many school districts, including Parkway, Rockwood and Ft. Zumwalt among many others, to cancel classes Friday. Our news partners at FOX2 have a complete list of school closings. MoDOT Engineer Becky Allmeroth told Patch that the amount of snow was the part of the forecast that didn't follow as planned. Either way, MoDOT said beforehand that it …

Large snow flakes fell across the St. Louis area Tuesday. MoDOT officials are warning drivers to use caution as they head home Tuesday evening.
The Missouri Department of Transportation said road crews took to the streets around the St. Louis area Tuesday treating roads with salt and chemicals and plowing as needed. MoDOT officials are warning drivers to use caution as they head home Tuesday evening, especially on ramps and bridges. The National Weather Service reports there could be accumulation of up to one inch of snow in some parts of the St. Louis area Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of around 20 degrees and light wind is also in the forecast. According to KMOV.com, several areas received at least a half-inch of accumulation as the narrow band of snow hit St. Louis and St. Charles counties beginning late morning. The developing storm could make problems for tomorrow morning's rush hour traffic.
A winter storm is headed our way that is expected to bring a mix of freezing drizzle and snow. The ice is not expected to accumulate, and we will probably see less than half an inch of snow, the National Weather Service reports. They have issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for eastern Missouri, noting that slick spots will be possible on elevated roads. KSDK.com reports that we can expect temperatures over the next few days that are significantly lower than the unusually warm temperatures we've been seeing so far in February.

MoDOT says all crews are on hand for the freezing rain and snow that may fall across the St. Louis area.
The Missouri Department of Transportation tells Patch its crews have been pretreating roads in preparation for the wintry mix predicted to hit St. Louis and surrounding areas Wednesday. "They are putting down salt as needed. We have been pre-treating so we were ready for the morning rush hour. Now our game plan is to be prepared for the evening rush hour in case it goes into that," MoDOT Spokesperson Kara Price tells Patch. "Our crews came in about four this morning to make sure we were on top of this storm." According to the National Weather Service, light snow, sleet and rain is forecasted for the area. KMOV is reporting Wednesday's weather and freezing temperatures may cause a potentially dangerous situation and icy roads. What is …
You've had your first cup of coffee; now relax with the second and find out what's up for the day in Lake Saint Louis.
Good morning, Lake Saint Louis! I must have been listening to the wrong weather reports yesterday. I was expecting to see something cold and wet coming from the skies this morning when I took the dogs out, but it's just a typical gray January day out there. It didn't even get cold enough last night to make the horses' water buckets ice over. I'm not complaining, mind you. I'm just a little—wistful, maybe?—about the lack of winter weather. I really don't mind some snow, or even sleet and ice. I like that the weather can remind us that there are things in this world that we have no control over. I think we all need to be reminded from time to time how little power we really have. But we do all have control over some aspects of our lives. For…
