Holt Wins Eric Lewis Wrestling Invitational

Wentzville Holt claims first-place team honors, with St. Charles West, McCluer North, Whitfield, and Ladue rounding out top five.

One of the area's best annual high school wrestling tournaments took over MICDS High School last weekend, as the 47th Annual Eric Lewis Invitational went off with non-stop action featuring many of the best schoolboy grapplers from all over the area. Some of the area's best teams also appeared, with state title contenders St. Charles West, McCluer North, and Whitfield all making strong showings at one of the season's last great tune-up tournaments before districts begin in two weeks. The dominant team of the weekend though, was Wentzville Holt, which had seven wrestlers advance to the finals in their respective weight classes, with five of them winning the individual championship, and a total of 11 of their 14 wrestlers competing at the …

Timberland Wrestler Richter Claims State Title

Timberland's Devan Richter wins state title as just a sophomore.

Timberland High School wrestler Devan Richter, who has only lost three times this season, capped off an outstanding season Saturday when he won the Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 4 state championship.  Richter, a sophomore, pinned Park Hill's William Erneste in 1 minute, 44 seconds to secure the title. Richter has been considered the future of the Wolves' wrestling program since he tok first lace in the Westminister tournament last season and had a solid showing at the Toshiba tournament as a freshman.  Richter also defeated Holt High School's Lawton Benna in the semifinals; Lee's Summit's Cartland Allen in the quarterfinals and CBC's Alexander Fisher in the first round. The winter sports season began slowly last week but are off to the races this week. The second week of the season is the kick off of tournament time. Temperatures are dropping which means the sports go indoors. Teams around St. Charles County will be starting season this week.

It's finally here.  After weeks of practices and scrimmages, teams around Missouri can officially get to work this week. Sports Report: Winter Sports Are Coming Up Fast

With the fall season nearly over, it's time to take a look at the winter sports season.

The fall sports season is just about over in the state of Missouri. Most fall teams in St. Charles County are already done playing, which means most schools are already thinking about the winter sports season. Despite recent higher temperature, winter sports are just around the corner. Practices are fully underway and Missouri allows the first wreslting matches and basketball games to being Nov. 21.  For th next few weeks, teams will around the County will begin play. Here are the season-opening dates for each team.
