Both Wentzville and Lake Saint Louis will elect three aldermen, and Lake Saint Louis will elect a mayor. The Wentzville School Board will fill two seats.
Candidate filing for the April 2, 2013 election begins Tuesday, Dec. 11 and runs until Jan. 15 for Lake Saint Louis and Wentzville municipal elections and the Wentzville School Board. City of Wentzville Filing for municipal office in Wentzville begins today, Tuesday, Dec. 11. Filing will remain open until Tues., Jan. 15. Wentzville City Hall is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and will be closed on Mon., Dec. 24 for Christmas Eve, Tues., Dec. 25 for Christmas Day and Tues., Jan. 1, for the New Year's holiday. Ten years ago, the city was not able to get a credit rating at all.
(The following press release was issued by the City of Lake Saint Louis.) Lake Saint Louis residents often ask city officials about the status of city finances. This question has arisen more frequently with the news of certain cities declaring bankruptcy. The credit rating agency Moody's has assigned a rating of Aa2 for Lake Saint Louis. City officials are proud of this Investment Prime Grade rating as the city was not able to obtain a credit rating from Moody's ten years ago. The City's financial condition has greatly improved from where it once was. To learn more about Moody's rating system Click Here. Access to some roads may be closed or restricted.
(The City of Lake Saint Louis issued the following press release.) Corrective Asphalt Materials has been selected by the City of Lake Saint Louis to apply preservative seal to several streets in the City: Weather permitting, work will begin the week of June 25. Each street will be swept with a street sweeper, and later that day or the following day the street will be sprayed with sealer and sanded. One or two days following the sealer application, the street will be swept again to remove the sand. Access on the roadways will be closed or restricted for sweeping, and application of the sealer between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM. (The Lake Saint Louis Department of Public Works issued the following press release on June 1.) Beginning on June 11, J.M. Marscheutz will be performing Concrete Panel Replacement on Fox Trail Drive, Sailor Court, Stone Falcon Court and Windsurfer Court in Lake Saint Louis. The work will consist of replacing rejected concrete panels that were installed under the previous years panel replacement program. These slabs are under warranty, and this work is being completed at no cost to the city. This project is expected to be completed in two weeks and affected residents will be notified with door hangers prior to the commencement of work on their street. The practice of tree topping (sometimes called stubbing, tipping, dehorning, pollarding, heading, rounding over or shaping) has been called everything from "misguided" to "the worst thing you can do to a tree." Property owners may believe that large trees are a hazard, that the tree is too large for the property or that it blocks the view. But websites such as PlantAmnesty.com and TreesAreGood.com list many reasons to avoid the practice, which hurts the tree by opening it up to decay and stressing it by eliminating its food source. It also creates a much worse hazard, because the new shoots that spring up at the cuts grow fast but are prone to breakage. And, both websites agree, it creates a very ugly tree.
