Wentzville Police Planning Drunk Driving Crackdown Over July 4th Holiday

The Wentzville Police Department is planning to participate in a state-wide program of sobriety checkpoints and DWI saturation patrols over the Fourth of July weekend, July 3 -7.

In a press release, Major Paul West said, "The sobering fact is that impaired driving contributes to nearly 30 percent of all Missouri traffic fatalities."

In 2012, 244 people were killed and 885 seriously injured in crashes involving an impaired driver.

The statewide sobriety checkpoints and DWI saturation patrols will enforce Missouri’s DWI laws and hopefully keep impaired drivers off the road.

  • Jail time
  • Driver’s licenses suspension or revocation
  • Being sentenced to use ignition interlocks 
  • Rising insurance rates
  • Financial considerations such as attorney fees, court costs, lost time at work, and the potential loss of job or job prospects. 
  • Personal embarrassment and humiliation

“Driving drunk is simply not worth all the consequences,” stated Chief Lisa Harrison. “Our message is simple and unwavering: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
